Goals need sunlight to grow

Goals need sunlight to grow

A plant and a goal will die in the dark.  Goals need sunlight to make them grow.

Get your goals out in the open.  Give them plenty of open air by sharing them with all who will support you.

Goals that are open thrive because they:

  • Create accountability
  • Get attention
  • Serve as a reminder
  • Create excitement

Goals hidden in the dark die because they:

  • Are neglected
  • Become silent
  • Morph into an unhealthy fungus

A great idea to get your goals out in the open is to place them in places where they can always be seen.

  • Your blog
  • Office desk
  • With your mentor
  • Give a copy to friends and family
  • Print them on a business card and hand them out

It needs to be very well known what results and goals you are striving to achieve.  Even though you may “tell” someone what you expect to achieve, the written word is still more powerful.

Therefore, make sure that the goals you are hoping to achieve are posted and on public display.

Also, make sure that you acknowledge others who share their goals with you.  A little nourishment goes a long way!

Question:  Have you ever let a goal die in the dark?

I’ve never thought of goals like that – interesting. Work related goals – the one year, two year, and three year goals I write down and share. Most of those are attainable within the the structure of the organization. Immediate goals – like finishing a course – I certainly want and appreciate support. Personal goals – hmmm…I tend to play those close to the chest. I usually just discuss them with God. You see, so many of my goals have ended up NOT being God’s goals for me – so now I wait on Him. I may “chat” with a friend, put a few feelers out there, but I certainly would not advertise them. I want God to get the glory, and if I go around telling everyone that I’m going to do this and that, and God has other plans, then I look foolish – and worse, may make God look less tham God in someone else’s eyes. Thanks for sharing – I will think about this more

Thank you for sharing.  I can see how some those God conversations are between you and him.  Good additions to the thought here.
