Dear Reader,

Have you ever met a power couple?

Lynn Tomasek is the CEO of Brothers Plumbing, Air Conditioning, and Electrical in Denver, CO. Jeff Tomasek is a retired schoolteacher and administrator who’s launching into his second career as an entrepreneur.

You might call them a power couple.

In their chosen professions, they’ve both excelled — earning respect and admiration along the way. Most power couples build their synergy around a single business. That’s where they put all their energy.

Lynn and Jeff are different. Their synergy is real, but the focus isn’t the business. It’s the family.

As Jeff put it: “We’ve always just been very respectful of each other. The separation has always come easy.”

That respect shows up in their non-negotiables:

  • Family dinners
  • Family vacations
  • Date nights
  • Working out together

Jeff makes connection the priority. I had a stepdad, and he was not like Jeff. So, I deeply appreciate this quality in him.

Lynn is all in on the family priorities. She’s also one of the most professional and mature people I’ve ever spoken with — not to mention dedicated. She says, “One of my favorite words is discipline. I like structure. I like a checklist. There’s something super satisfying about checking the boxes every day.”

Not only does Lynn lead a $25M+ home service company, she’s also a:

  • Bodybuilder
  • Model
  • Fitness influencer
  • And now, she and Jeff operate two more businesses together.

They live a full life side by side. And somehow, it never seems to cause issues. Jeff even told me they’ve never had a fight. (Meanwhile, Shannon and I have never had three fights on the same day. :-D)

There’s a lot to learn here about building both a successful career and a strong relationship.

Enjoy today’s conversation.

Episode Chapters & Summary

Partnership Built on Respect

“We've always just been very respectful of each other—and the separation has always come easy.”

Lynn and Jeff describe their marriage as a partnership rooted in mutual respect. They don't compete with each other or try to 'fix' each other's problems, but instead act as sounding boards. This ability to listen without judgment has been key to navigating career highs and lows together.

Key Takeaways:

  • Partnerships thrive when built on respect and boundaries.
  • Listening matters more than solving.
  • Humility and confidence can co-exist in strong couples.

Blended Family and Parenting

“It's never been 'step.' From the very beginning, it's been family.”

Jeff stepped into the role of father figure for Lynn's children, creating a family bond based on tradition and unity. Family dinners, shared routines, and open acceptance defined their parenting approach. They reflect on how raising kids together shaped their relationship and supported Lynn's leadership career.

Key Takeaways:

  • Blended families thrive with intentional traditions.
  • Shared family meals build connection and stability.
  • Partnership at home enables professional success.

Navigating Career Transitions

“The passion wasn't there anymore, so I wasn't going to go through the motions.”

After 25 years in education, Jeff retired and pursued entrepreneurship through owning a gym. He and Lynn highlight how career changes are easier when partners support each other's happiness and life balance. Lynn, meanwhile, reflects on her own growth from HR to president of a $25M company, driven by discipline and resilience.

Key Takeaways:

  • Transitions require open conversations and shared vision.
  • Supportive partners create freedom to take risks.
  • Fear of failure can be a motivator when channeled productively.

Fitness, Discipline, and Shared Routines

“One of my favorite words is discipline—I like structure and routine.”

Fitness plays a central role in their lives, with both prioritizing workouts as a source of mental clarity, energy, and discipline. Though they train differently, they often work out together, emphasizing consistency over comfort. Fitness habits mirror their approach to business and life: structured, intentional, and goal-driven.

Key Takeaways:

  • Physical fitness supports mental fitness and clarity.
  • Discipline in workouts translates to discipline in business.
  • Shared routines strengthen relationships.

Celebrating Wins and Managing Stress

“Every night, we clink glasses and say cheers to life.”

Despite busy lives, Lynn and Jeff make it a daily habit to celebrate small wins and time together. Jeff emphasizes presence and slowing down, while Lynn admits she struggles with stress but values Jeff's calmness. Together, they show how couples can balance intensity with intentional moments of gratitude.

Key Takeaways:

  • Celebration doesn't require big gestures—daily rituals matter most.
  • One partner's calmness can balance the other's intensity.
  • Gratitude practices create resilience through transitions.

Vision for the Future

“I want to have a profound impact on others.”

Looking five years ahead, Lynn aspires to inspire and impact more people through her leadership and example. Jeff hopes to simply 'be better'—a better husband, father, businessman, and person. Together, they envision a future built on continuous growth, shared values, and partnership.

Key Takeaways:

  • Success is defined by impact, not just titles or money.
  • Personal growth is a lifelong pursuit.
  • Partnerships thrive when visions are shared and supported.
